For the past year, plenty of events have happened that has captured the attention of the international community. A lot of world news sources all over the internet delivered interesting events to their readers all year round. The nation of Haiti probably made a lot more headlines this year compared to other small countries of the world.

There was the tragic earthquake that claimed plenty of lives and damaged properties that were worth billions of dollars. This event stuck to the collective minds of people from all over the world who sought to take action and do everything they can to help the struggling nation. Influential people around the world pledged help and encouraged others to try and help in any way they can.

The international press did their part in covering the nation and continued feeding us with the latest developments happening in the country. They have also been instrumental in raising and channelling the necessary funds in order to help Haiti get back on its feet.

After the quake, the nation was faced with more problems as it struggled to cope with the physical, emotional and psychological damages it has incurred.  Diseases and epidemics put more weight on the shoulders of Haitians. We saw and felt their struggles as reported by trusted world news sources like BBC, CNN, NY Times and news sites such as Niuzer.com.

Today, political turmoil is the latest in the stream of setbacks that the nation kept finding itself in. As Haiti continues to get back on its feet, we watch and get updates from internet news sources that continue to provide us with the latest credible news.

Through it all, we rely on these news sites to keep us in light of everything that is happening. The power of social media in delivering world news applies not only to poor Haiti but to other countries as well.

Haiti has really had a terrible time this year, hasn't it? I watched CNN's recap tonight, it was heartbreaking.
